POLICE OMBUDSMAN OF FIOSRÚ - OIFIG AN OMBUDSMAN PÓILÍNEACHTA

The new Policing, Security and Community Safety Act **Apply on the

(GSOC) is to be reconstituted as “Fiosrú”, with the current three

Police Ombudsman, who is supported by a Deputy Police Ombudsman and a

As Fiosrú is a reorganised corporate body with a changing
organisation structure, it requires a leader with a proven capacity to
manage change, as the Act streamlines the processes and procedures for
the handling of complaints and the conduct of investigations to
support timely, more transparent and effective resolution while
safeguarding due process for all concerned.

Candidates now are being sought for the position of Police Ombudsman.

The Police Ombudsman will demonstrate a strong commitment to public
service and will understand the importance of public trust and
confidence in An Garda Síochána and the role that an efficient and
effective complaints and conduct system plays in building and
maintaining that trust and confidence.

Within Fiosrú, the Ombudsman will provide inspirational leadership
aimed at building an organisation that achieves the highest standards
of service delivery respectful of the rights of complainants and
members of An Garda Síochána.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

* A proven record of achievement at senior level in the public or

* A proven track record of planning strategically and implementing
modernisation and change programmes while ensuring delivery of ongoing
services in a large organisation;

oversight body, with evidence of strong governance and/or regulatory
experience.
* Proven ability to drive quality in investigations and complaints
handling, driving efficiencies through digitalisation and fostering
